Vaughn has had a long-held fascination with radio and communications since spending many hours with his grandfather who was an amateur radio operator. He has worked in broadcasting on and off for the last 25 years, and spent seven and a half years as manager of Print Radio Tasmania, a state-wide broadcasting service for people with disability. He is committed to access and inclusion in all areas of life and in particular, recognizes the essential part communications technology plays in connecting disparate communities and people. Commencing May 2021 to August 2022, Vaughn was ACCAN's Disability Policy Officer and regularly advocated for accessibility to communications products and services for people with disability, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and others who are disadvantaged in the Australian community.

Vaughn commenced a new role in Mid-August 2022 as Executive Officer of Disability Voices Tasmania.
